Happy Endings

Guinness

Guinness

This big guy never made it to my website since he was adopted in a couple of days. He will be joining Luke in his great home. Guinness is a stunning Irish draft cross that I have known for years and will be a fabulous addition to this home. He is gentle with kids and one of those  all around horses that are hard to find. This guy was looking for his forever home and I couldn’t have asked for a better one! Thank you so much for opening your hearts and home for this wonderful horse!

Sweet William

Sweet William

This little guy has also moved into the big leagues. He has moved down to Saugerties to a very fancy stable, close to HITS. His mom owns a tack store and he strutted out of here in very fancy pony clothes. He has a very young boy that he will be responsible for someday carrying around the short-stirrup circuit. Best of luck!

Pal

Pal

Pal came back to Harmony Hill only to be quickly adopted to one of my first adopters. He has joined Pentimento out in beautiful Cherry Valley. The family was looking for a husband trail horse and Pal fit that bill perfectly. He quickly adjusted into his new home and has been out on the trails. Last reports from Cherry Valley have been that the husband has not had a chance to get on him yet because his wife has been having so much fun with Pal, stay tune for more updates…..

Jonah

My sweet Jonah, I thought he might be one of my long term residents, but you know what they say good things come to those that wait and boy it did for Jonah! He went to exactly a place I was hoping for, lots of young girls to dote on him, a structured environment to start him off right and the last report I received was he was fitting in very well with the programmed environment. Jonah is a very smart pony who needs to be kept challenged and he has found the perfect place that will keep him busy. Many thanks to the gang that adopted this deserving boy!

Luke (photo by Lisa Wilcox)

Luke has hit the lottery with his new home! He has a very doting mother who has the time and the patience to provide this youngster the very best foundation of learning. His new home is a couple of miles from Harmony Hill which is nice as I have been able to watch him blossom into a young horse. He is in the very best of care and is progressing into a wonderful companion that will provide his new family many years of joy.

Toby

Toby has joined a wonderful farm that works with children and adults. The program that Toby assists in is called Equine Assisted Learning where horses are used in therapeutic programs. The program director was looking for a larger horse for her program and Toby fit the bill. He joined a small herd of other horses that are also used for this program. Toby has been there over a year now and working out fabulously. This is a very happy ending for his great horse.

Tommy Boy

Tipper

Sweet Tipper has finally found his forever home! This boy is one of those guys that needs consistency in his life and his new home is the perfect place for him. He is a horse that needs to know he has a “person” that is his and his new dad adores him! He has a wonderful new paddock and a great pal to keep him company, he will want for nothing and we are wishing him and his new owner the very best of luck!

GABE (aka COSMO)

Gabe has settled very nicely into his new home in the lovely green mountains of Massachusetts! He has joined a lovely family on a very quaint hobby farm with two sweet ponies and lots of chickens! Gabe came to Harmony Hill very timid and pretty much not handled. He quickly developed a bond with us here and turned into the biggest pocket pony. His new mom reported that he settled in well and quickly and their relationship continues to develop every day. We wish both of them the best of luck!

Bo

Our sweet Bo left this weekend for his new forever home. This great guy definitely will be missed, he has come such a long way and Kim who had enjoyed riding him every week will surely miss riding the big smooth tank! Bo has moved downstate and boy has he hit it big time. He has joined a small herd on a beautiful gentleman’s farm with every possible amenity, these guys don’t want for anything. He will be living like a retired rock star, literally! J  Best of luck to Bo and his new owners and thanks for welcoming this great guy into your life!

Molly

My Kit Kat could not help himself, he had to be in the picture as well!

Ben

Things are busy at Harmony Hill and another great horse found a wonderful home! Ben left this weekend (June), off to his new life in Connecticut! The picture above is Ben being greeted by his new stablemates. Ben has been adopted by a wonderful gentleman who has just entered the world of horses, and Ben is the mount who will be teaching him the ropes! I could not have asked for this match if I would have dreamt it up myself, it is perfect! I have been waiting for the right person to come along for Ben, as he is such a sweet horse and the day has finally come! I heard Ben took over the corner stall, how’d that happen? Anyways, good luck to both of you and enjoy your many rides into the sunset!

Tonka

Courtesy of Peaceful Acres

This truly is one of my most happiest endings! Tonka is the sweetest horse and I have truly grown attached to him and at his age of 25 I surely thought he most likely would be here for the duration of his life. One day I received an email from a woman looking for a quiet, gentle, older horse, to use in her therapeutic program, 95% of the work was done on the ground. I immediately thought of Tonka. He is gentle, loves attention and is safe to work around; they were interested! After a visit and few email exchanges the deal was done, Tonka was going to his forever home! It was bittersweet for me as I had grown so attached to him, I know we are not supposed to but you can’t help it with this guy, he is just a big puppy dog! I am so thrilled at the outcome for Tonka, he is at a place were there are children that will just dote over him all day long, and he finally has a place he can call home, for good! Thank you so much for welcoming this guy and taking care of him throughout the rest of his senior years!

Nellie and Tillie

Nellie Tillie
This pair has found a great home in Saratoga together! They live the lap of luxury in a huge barn for just the 2 of them! Each night they go into their own broodmare size stalls, Tillie must think she is on the penthouse floor in the Hilton! Thanks again to this family for opening their homes and hearts to this pair!

Mickey

Little, although not so little. He is about as wide as he is as tall. This pony didn’t even make it to our Available for Adoption page as he was adopted prior to that. Things are very busy here at the farm and I am happy to report that! Mickey although we have called him “mini-me” as he is a smaller version of Bo, our nice big quarter horse that we have here as well. Mick came in with a couple of donkeys in May and we were going to use him for our school trips, educational presentations and youth programs as he is a nice safe pony, although he wants to eat everything in sight…We discovered that the donkeys were even more easy going and kids seemed to flock to them more than the pony and hang all over the donkeys, so we decided to find Mickey a new home. That wasn’t too hard, he is going to a great home that was a home actually and now has been converted to a barn….WOW! So he is going to really be living the good life! Way to go MICK! Thanks to his new family for taking in this not so little munchkin and word of advice, don’t leave any munchkins out around him, they will be gone……

Pony 1 Before
Pony 1 After

A wonderful little mare that I have known for quite a few years. She provided many years of service as a lead-line pony for children’s pony rides. She came to me in pretty bad shape, very dehydrated, emaciated, open sores on her back and just overall not well cared for at all. She had been kept in a herd situation where she was the low man on the totem pole and obviously was not getting enough to eat. She came into Harmony Hill with Pony 2 below.

After a good round of deworming and quality hay, separate feeding quarters and a shelter to get out of the elements this mare has blossomed back to the pony I remembered. It is amazing and so rewarding to watch these animals transform.

This wonderful pony has found a wonderful home to go to where she will live out her life in all the comforts she deserves, it is the least we can do for such a deserving pony.

Pony 2 Before
Pony 2 After

This little guy is a classic ham and I will miss him! He was not in as bad a shape as the mare although he was definitely ribby and in desperate need of deworming and farrier services. He responded very well to a regular feeding schedule as you can see in the picture! His new name is Cookie Dough, hmmm I wonder why?

He is going to an excellent home where he will be keeping a gentle mare company and I am sure entertaining the neighborhood. He will also be next door to his lovely pony mare (how lucky can that be) where they will be able to keep an eye on each other for the rest of their lives.

Congratulations to both families on your new additions and thank you again on your decision to open your home and heart to an adopted equine!

Ranger

Pentimento “Penny”

Penny has found his retirement home near the lovely Cherry Valley, he has joined a herd of mares which suits him just fine on a sprawling 90 acre farm, which is almost all fenced in and available for the horses to explore. He is in true “horsey heaven.” He has already earned his keep by alerting the family one day when one of the old mares fell down and could not get back up. Penny came racing down to the house pacing back and forth. They came outside to see what was wrong and saw that the old girl was down; if it hadn’t been for Penny perhaps she may have been seriously hurt. This is another great match and again I feel very fortunate to have connected with a great adopter and know that Penny is in a great place! Thank you!
